In a message issued ahead of the anniversary, the Governor congratulated the members of MHIP, noting that since its establishment on July 6, 1974, under the motto "Service to Others," the organisation has grown into one of Mizoram's leading women's voluntary bodies.
He lauded MHIP for its sustained efforts in safeguarding the rights, dignity and welfare of women and vulnerable communities while playing a significant role in preserving Mizo traditions and promoting community development across the state.
The Governor highlighted the organisation's contribution over the past five decades in protecting women's rights, combating violence and discrimination, and advocating reforms in marriage, divorce and inheritance laws. He also acknowledged MHIP's work in education, health awareness, legal aid and social service, which has empowered countless women and families throughout Mizoram.
Describing MHIP's guiding principle as "Women's welfare, justice and empowerment through social service," the Governor said the organisation's receipt of the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2016 was a fitting recognition of its outstanding service.

The Governor also emphasised the important role of women in nation-building, stating that women are the cornerstone of every family where values and character are nurtured. He expressed hope that MHIP would continue contributing to the vision of Viksit Mizoram and support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Concluding his message, the Governor wished MHIP continued success, strength and greater achievements in the years ahead, extending his greetings on the occasion of MHIP Day.
