The financial aid was handed over during a programme organised at the Manipur Trade Expo Centre Relief Camp in Lamboikhongnangkhong, where the beneficiaries included IDPs battling serious medical conditions such as kidney disease, cancer and other chronic ailments.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the assistance was being provided to help displaced families cope with the financial burden of prolonged medical treatment during these difficult times. He noted that the State Government has been extending support to Internally Displaced Persons and has introduced special financial assistance for those suffering from life-threatening and chronic diseases.

Khemchand Singh assured the beneficiaries that the government's support would not end with the current distribution. He said every possible assistance would continue to be extended to IDPs requiring medical care in the future.

"The decision to provide financial assistance was taken with the hope that it will ease the hardships faced by displaced families, who are already enduring the pain of being unable to return to their homes," he said.

Describing the prevailing situation as unfortunate, the Chief Minister expressed concern that many people continue to remain displaced and are unable to live in their own homes. He reiterated the government's commitment to supporting displaced families until normalcy is restored.

Speaking at the programme, Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi announced that weaving machines and support for other allied livelihood activities would be provided to women residing in the relief camp. She said the initiative aims to strengthen self-reliance and create sustainable livelihood opportunities for displaced women.
