Imphal, July 2: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Thursday inaugurated the Bioreactor Unit for Bio-Fertilizer Production and attended a Farmers' Meet at the CSIR–North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) Complex at Lamphelpat, reaffirming the state government's commitment to sustainable agriculture and rural development.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the initiative would strengthen organic farming, promote the use of bio-fertilizers, and empower farmers through sustainable agricultural practices. He said the project would also encourage innovation in the agriculture sector, facilitate technology transfer to local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), conserve indigenous bio-resources, and create new skill and employment opportunities for the youth of Manipur.
Khemchand Singh said the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, aimed at building a self-reliant and prosperous India through sustainable development and agricultural innovation.
Later in the day, the Chief Minister attended the State-Level Launch of the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (VB-GRAM G) at Salam Tharoijam Eco Tourism Park. The programme was virtually launched by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Highlighting the significance of the mission, the Chief Minister said the flagship initiative guarantees 125 days of wage employment to every eligible rural worker, strengthening rural livelihoods and accelerating inclusive development across the state. He expressed confidence that the programme would contribute to building a stronger, self-reliant and prosperous Manipur.

The Chief Minister also chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Health Department at the Cabinet Hall, New Civil Secretariat, Mantripukhri, with senior officials. The meeting reviewed the functioning of the National Health Mission (NHM), the Directorate of Medical Education, Family Welfare, AYUSH, and Health Services. Discussions focused on the 2026–27 work plan, addressing infrastructure and specialist shortages, while reaffirming the government's commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across Manipur.
The Hon'ble Chief Minister also participated in the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" tree plantation drive, highlighting the collective responsibility to protect the environment and build a greener, more sustainable future for the state.
