Mizoram Finalises Agenda Ahead of 73rd NEC Plenary in Shillong

AIZAWL, June 2, 2026: Mizoram Governor General (Dr.) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.), on Monday reviewed the state's preparations for the 73rd North Eastern Council (NEC) Plenary scheduled to be held in Shillong, Meghalaya, on June 4.

The review meeting was held at the Lok Bhavan Conference Room in Aizawl, where senior government officials discussed Mizoram’s priorities and developmental agenda to be presented at the upcoming plenary, which will be chaired by the Union Home Minister.

During the meeting, the Governor underscored the Union Government’s commitment to the development of the North Eastern region and called upon all line departments to make concerted efforts to ensure that Mizoram’s key developmental concerns and priorities are effectively highlighted during the NEC deliberations.

Secretary of the Planning and Programme Implementation Department, David Lalthantluanga, presented a detailed review of follow-up actions taken on decisions and initiatives relating to Mizoram from the 72nd NEC Plenary held in Agartala, Tripura, in December 2024.

The presentation also covered the progress of ongoing projects supported by the North Eastern Council and the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), including NEC-funded projects, the North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme (NESIDS-Roads), NESIDS (OTRI), and projects under the Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE).

Officials deliberated on various development issues and finalised key points that Mizoram intends to raise during the plenary, focusing on infrastructure development, connectivity, and welfare initiatives aimed at accelerating the state's growth.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary, General Administration Department, Sudhir Kumar; Commissioner and Secretary, Cooperation Department, Udit Prakash Rai; Commissioner and Secretary to the Governor, Vinod P. Kavle; Commissioner and Secretary, Sports and Youth Services Department, V. Lalsangliana; Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Ramdinliani; Secretary, Planning and Programme Implementation Department, David Lalthantluanga; Secretary, Horticulture Department, Maria CT Zuali; Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, Dr. H. Lianzela; Secretary, Information and Communication Technology Department, Dr. YLN Reddy, along with other senior officials.
