Ms. Saxena, who is on an official visit to Sikkim from May 31 to June 4, reviewed the preparedness and progress of the revision process during a meeting held at the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer in Gangtok on Monday.

The review focused on key aspects of the exercise, including the distribution of Enumeration Forms, elector verification, and other field-level activities being carried out across the state. Stressing the importance of maintaining accurate and inclusive electoral rolls, the ECI Director instructed officials to ensure comprehensive coverage of all eligible electors during the revision process.

Highlighting the crucial role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs), Ms. Saxena said they must actively assist voters in filling out Enumeration Forms and uploading the required information through the ECINET portal. She emphasized that forms should not simply be handed over to electors without guidance and that BLOs must provide assistance wherever necessary to ensure smooth completion of the process.

The meeting also examined challenges related to verifying and mapping electors whose records may not be readily available in earlier electoral rolls. Officials were advised to adopt appropriate verification procedures and make effective use of available records to ensure accurate identification and enrolment of eligible voters.

Ms. Saxena further instructed BLOs to use their designated ECINET credentials for enumeration, verification, and timely updating of voter details. She underscored the need for meticulous field-level verification and strict adherence to the timelines laid down by the Election Commission of India.
