In a statement dated May 3, the UNC said Naga-inhabited districts such as Ukhrul, Chandel, Tamenglong, and Senapati are facing serious hardships and alleged hostility. The council claimed the situation is not merely a breakdown of law and order but involves targeted actions against Naga communities.
The organisation expressed concern over what it described as coercion, pressure on settlements, and threats to Naga identity and land. It also alleged attempts to distort Naga history and weaken their historical and territorial claims.

Highlighting the risks to ancestral lands, the UNC warned that continued instability could open the door for external forces and illegal settlement, posing a long-term threat to the Naga homeland.
As part of its appeal, the council called on various Naga bodies, including Naga Hoho, Global Naga Forum, Naga Mothers’ Association, and student organisations, to stand united and actively respond to the situation. It urged them to raise awareness, support affected communities, and strengthen grassroots defence and solidarity.
The UNC also emphasised the importance of prayer, collective action, and material support for displaced families and those guarding villages. It warned that inaction could have serious consequences for the future of the Naga people.
Reaffirming its commitment, the council stated that it would not relinquish Naga land or identity, stressing unity as essential for safeguarding the future of the community.
