The Minister made the remarks while attending a Career Fair organized by the Electric Veng Branch of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) Literature & Education Sub-Committee in Aizawl. The event brought together students, educators, career counselors, and representatives from various institutions to provide guidance on educational and employment opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, Sapdanga praised the organizers for conducting what he described as a meaningful and timely initiative. He said career fairs play an important role in helping students gain a better understanding of available career paths and opportunities while equipping them with information necessary for making informed decisions about their futures.
The Home Minister noted that although Mizo youth have consistently demonstrated strong academic potential and talent in various fields, the number of candidates from Mizoram entering Central Services, Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations, and other national-level recruitment processes remains comparatively low. He stressed that increasing representation in these sectors would provide greater opportunities for the state's youth while also ensuring stronger participation of Mizoram in national institutions.
Sapdanga urged students to set clear goals and prepare seriously for competitive examinations. He emphasized that success in Central Services requires dedication, discipline, and long-term planning. According to him, students should begin preparing early, develop strong study habits, and take advantage of available resources, coaching opportunities, and career guidance programmes.
The Minister observed that many young people possess the capability to succeed in highly competitive examinations but may lack adequate information or motivation. He encouraged students to broaden their horizons and explore opportunities beyond traditional career choices, particularly in fields where Mizoram remains underrepresented.
Highlighting the significance of career guidance programmes, Sapdanga said such initiatives help bridge information gaps and expose students to a wider range of professional opportunities. He encouraged educational institutions, civil society organizations, and community groups to continue organizing similar events to support youth development and career planning.
The Home Minister also advised students to remain focused on their studies and to make full use of opportunities provided through the Career Fair. He said the event should serve not merely as an exhibition but as a stepping stone toward achieving long-term educational and professional goals.
Following the formal programme, Sapdanga visited various stalls set up at the venue and interacted with participants, organizers, and exhibitors. He took time to learn about the services and information being provided and encouraged students to engage actively with the resource persons present.

Participants at the fair received information on higher education options, skill development programmes, professional courses, government recruitment processes, and employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors. The event also provided a platform for students to interact directly with experts and seek guidance regarding career planning.
Organizers said the objective of the Career Fair was to inspire students to make informed choices about their future and to create awareness about opportunities available at the state, national, and international levels.
The programme concluded with renewed calls for greater participation of Mizoram’s youth in competitive examinations and national services, with speakers emphasizing that increased representation in Central Government institutions would contribute not only to individual success but also to the broader development and visibility of the state.
