Cachar, May 3, 2026: In a major intelligence-based operation, Assam Rifles, in coordination with the Assam Rifles Field Intelligence Unit (ARFIU) and Cachar Police, seized a large quantity of narcotics and apprehended two individuals in the general area of Pailapool in Cachar district of Assam on Saturday.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as David Hmar (27) and Rolamal Hmar (32), both residents of Kolasib district in Mizoram.
During the operation, security forces recovered 1.64 kilograms of morphine, valued at approximately ₹2.4 crore, and 20 grams of heroin worth about ₹12 lakh. The total estimated value of the seized contraband is around ₹2.52 crore.

A Bolero vehicle reportedly used for transporting the narcotics was also seized during the operation.
The recovered drugs, along with the apprehended individuals and the seized vehicle, have been handed over to Cachar Police for further investigation and legal action.
Security agencies stated that the operation was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs, highlighting continued efforts to curb the trafficking of narcotics in the region.
