In a press communiqué released from Ukhrul headquarters, the committee said it was “appalled and deeply distressed” by a reported attack at Ringui Hoeri Kaphung village, which it claimed occurred shortly after a combing operation by Central Security Forces.

The statement further alleged that similar patterns had emerged in recent weeks, citing incidents in Lungter Hills, Sinakeithei, and areas along NH-202 near Yaolen village. According to the TNL Working Committee, combing operations by security forces were followed by attacks on Naga villages, raising questions about the effectiveness and intent of such operations.

The committee also accused Central Security Forces of failing to act against alleged aggressors and, in some instances, claimed that defensive structures of Naga Village Guards were dismantled while attacks continued. It further alleged that Naga Village Guards had refrained from offensive action, relying on assurances from security forces, but were left vulnerable during repeated incidents.

Additionally, the statement claimed that there was possible “complicity” by security forces in enabling attacks, a charge that could not be independently verified.

The Working Committee warned that continued violence and lack of accountability could escalate tensions further. It also urged authorities to take decisive and transparent action to ensure the safety of civilians and restore trust.

The statement concluded by calling for immediate intervention to address the situation and prevent further deterioration of law and order in the affected regions.
