Meth Worth ₹28.38 Crore Seized in Mizoram, Three Held

Champhai, May 3, 2026: In a major anti-drug operation, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Zokhawthar Police, seized a large consignment of methamphetamine tablets valued at approximately ₹28.38 crore in Mizoram.

The seizure was made on May 2 during a joint operation at Melbuk Gate along the World Bank Road in Zokhawthar, under Champhai district. Security personnel intercepted and searched a suspected vehicle, leading to the recovery of 9.462 kg of methamphetamine tablets.

During the operation, three individuals were apprehended, including two Indian nationals and one Myanmarese national.

Officials said the recovered contraband, along with the vehicle and the accused, has been handed over to Zokhawthar Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by security forces to curb cross-border drug trafficking in the region, particularly along the Indo-Myanmar border areas of Mizoram.
