NSUI Mizoram leaders address a press conference in Aizawl, raising concern over repeated errors by the Mizoram Public Service Commission and demanding urgent reforms and corrective measures.

Addressing a press conference at the Aizawl Press Club on Friday, NSUI leaders alleged that the commission has been involved in a series of mistakes and controversies over the past year and four months. According to the student organisation, such incidents have raised concerns among students, job aspirants, and the general public regarding the credibility and efficiency of the recruitment process.

The student leaders claimed that the MPSC had committed at least one significant error almost every month during the period in question. They argued that if such issues continue without adequate corrective measures, public trust in the commission could be seriously affected.

NSUI leaders stated that thousands of young people across Mizoram spend years preparing for government recruitment examinations, viewing them as important opportunities for employment and career advancement. They warned that repeated mistakes in examinations, results, or recruitment procedures could create frustration, uncertainty, and disappointment among candidates who invest considerable time and effort in preparing for competitive examinations.

According to the organisation, maintaining transparency, fairness, and accuracy in recruitment processes is essential to ensuring public confidence in government institutions. The student body stressed that the MPSC must function with the highest standards of professionalism and accountability, given its responsibility in selecting candidates for various government services.

The NSUI urged the commission to thoroughly investigate the causes of the recurring errors and take immediate corrective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. The organisation also called for greater transparency in addressing mistakes and communicating with candidates whenever issues arise.

Student leaders said prompt action is necessary not only to rectify specific errors but also to restore confidence among aspirants and the wider public. They maintained that accountability and institutional reforms would be necessary to strengthen the commission’s credibility.

The organisation further appealed to Chief Minister Lalduhoma to take steps to strengthen and reform the MPSC. According to NSUI, the government should ensure that the commission is equipped with adequate systems, oversight mechanisms, and administrative support to improve efficiency and minimise the possibility of future mistakes.

The remarks come amid recent controversy surrounding alleged errors in the results of the Junior Grade of MES (Combined Competitive) Examination 2025. The issue generated considerable discussion among candidates and the public after discrepancies were reportedly identified in the examination results.

Following the controversy, the MPSC had issued an apology and acknowledged the error, assuring candidates that corrective action would be taken. However, NSUI leaders argued that the incident reflects a broader pattern of recurring problems that require comprehensive institutional reforms rather than isolated corrective measures.

The student organisation emphasized that the integrity of recruitment examinations is vital for ensuring equal opportunities and merit-based selection in government employment. It urged both the commission and the state government to work toward rebuilding trust and ensuring that future recruitment processes are conducted with greater efficiency, transparency, and accuracy.

NSUI concluded by reiterating its commitment to safeguarding the interests of students and job seekers and called upon the authorities to address the issue with urgency to protect the credibility of Mizoram’s recruitment system.
