Khawzawl, May 15: Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya visited several important government facilities and development sites in Khawzawl district on May 15 to review ongoing works and public services.
The minister first inspected National Highway 6, where she interacted with officials of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL). She inquired about the construction timeline and maintenance plans for the highway and urged officials to ensure quality construction and proper upkeep of the road.
She later visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra Khawzawl, where she appreciated the exhibition stalls prepared for her visit and suggested that larger exhibitions be organised in future to allow school students to participate and learn. She praised the centre’s initiatives in tomato, potato and Nihawi cultivation and noted that five farmers supported under KVK initiatives had received National Awards.
During her visit, the minister also inspected the Public Distribution System godown at Kawnzara and a Fair Price Shop at Electric Veng. She interacted briefly with beneficiaries and reviewed the rice distribution process, stressing the importance of timely and transparent distribution of ration supplies.
At the Khawzawl District Hospital, Bambhaniya toured various departments and inquired about the implementation of the Jan Aushadhi scheme at the hospital pharmacy. Officials informed her that the licence application process was underway. She also inspected the Integrated Public Health Laboratory constructed under the Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission and was briefed about the different serological and biochemical tests being conducted there.

The minister further suggested improvements to the hospital verandah and surrounding compound to enhance the overall environment for patients and visitors.
Concluding her visit, Bambhaniya toured the Electric Veng Anganwadi Centre and Little Flower Primary School, the only primary school in Khawzawl district functioning under Samagra Shiksha. She interacted with teachers and students, discussed the challenges faced by the institutions and stressed the need to create a comfortable and high-quality learning environment for children.
