Champhai, May 2, 2026: In a major anti-drug operation, Assam Rifles in coordination with Zokhawthar Police seized heroin worth approximately ₹17.25 lakh and apprehended one individual in Champhai district of Mizoram.
According to official sources, the joint operation was carried out on April 30, 2026, in the general area of Crossing Point–3 in Zokhawthar, near the Indo-Myanmar border. During the operation, security personnel recovered 23 grams of Heroin No. 4, a highly potent form of the narcotic.
One suspect was apprehended at the spot during the operation. The seized contraband, along with the arrested individual, has been handed over to the Zokhawthar Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Authorities said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking along the international border and to prevent the illegal movement of narcotics into the region.
