Thenzawl, May 1, 2026: Lalduhoma on Thursday distributed relief assistance to families affected by a recent storm and heavy rainfall in Thenzawl. The aid was provided from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

During the visit, the Chief Minister also inspected storm-affected areas in Kanan Veng and Tualvungi Veng, meeting residents and assessing the extent of the damage.
According to officials, strong winds accompanied by heavy rain struck Thenzawl around 4 pm on April 27, causing significant damage across the town. Reports indicate that eight houses were severely damaged and rendered uninhabitable, while nine houses sustained major damage and 54 others suffered partial damage.

The storm also damaged 13 government and community buildings and caused 15 electric poles to collapse, disrupting power supply in parts of the area.
The Chief Minister was accompanied by SDO (Civil) Thenzawl K. Lalhlimpuia, DIPRO Serchhip R. Vanneihtluanga, and other local leaders during the visit.
Officials said the government will continue monitoring the situation and provide necessary assistance to affected families.
