In a statement shared on social media, the Assam Chief Minister said he did not require “lessons on democracy, public discourse or decency” from Singhvi and accused the Congress leader of avoiding a direct debate on the issue.

Sarma alleged that a woman who has no connection to politics was subjected to character assassination on national television using what he described as forged documents from foreign sources in an attempt to influence electoral outcomes.

Expressing confidence in the legal process, the Chief Minister said the courts would eventually take note of the matter and ensure that those responsible for allegedly maligning the woman’s character using false documents are held accountable.

Sarma also criticised Singhvi for making remarks on platforms where he was not present to respond, stating that such exchanges do not amount to a fair debate.

“Let me be clear, this is just the beginning, not the end,” Sarma said, ending his remarks with the phrase “Satyamev Jayate.”
