SSA and 4th Teachers’ Associations Felicitate Meghalaya CM Sangma Over Structured Pay Framework

Shillong, May 1, 2026: The Meghalaya SSA Schools Association Central Body and the Meghalaya 4th Teachers Association on Friday felicitated Conrad K Sangma for the state government’s introduction of the Structured Pay Framework (SPF) aimed at improving service protection and financial stability for SSA and 4th teachers in the state.

The felicitation programme was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, Tourism Minister Timothy D Shira, Arts and Culture Minister Shanbor Shullai, Umsning MLA C Lyngdoh, and Commissioner and Secretary of Education Vijay Mantri, along with officials from the education department.

Expressing gratitude to the teachers’ associations, the Chief Minister said the initiative followed a long and challenging journey that began in 2016, when the concerns of teachers were first raised during his tenure as a Member of Parliament.

Sangma said the issue was resolved through collective efforts and a shared determination to find a lasting solution, leading to the implementation of the Structured Pay Framework. The scheme officially came into effect on April 1, 2026, providing enhanced financial security and service protection for thousands of teachers.

Calling the rollout of SPF a major milestone, the Chief Minister said the reform recognises teachers’ contributions with fairness and dignity while strengthening the education system in the state.

Describing the moment as one of the most satisfying achievements of his career, Sangma said seeing the happiness among teachers confirmed that the government’s decision had made a meaningful difference in their lives.

He also urged educators to continue placing students at the centre of their work, reiterating that education remains a key priority for transformative development in Meghalaya.
