Ao Community Played Key Role in Shaping Nagaland’s Progress: Dy CM Yanthungo Patton

Chuchuyimlang, May 1, 2026: Yanthungo Patton on Thursday said the Ao community, often referred to as the “Land of Pioneers,” has played a significant role in shaping Nagaland’s progress in education, faith, and leadership.

Patton made the remarks while attending the Moatsü festival celebrations at Chuchuyimlang, where he joined community members and leaders in celebrating the cultural heritage of the Ao people.

Highlighting the importance of the festival, the Deputy Chief Minister said Moatsü is more than a celebration - it is a living expression of the Ao community’s identity, where history, customs, and community life come together. He noted that the Ao people have long upheld values of unity, dignity, and responsibility, which continue to guide the state.

The event was attended by Nagaland Minister P Bashangchang; Advisors to the Government of Nagaland Kazheto Kinimi, Kropol Vitsu, Sethrongkyu Sangtam, and Tongpang Ozukum; MLA Nuklutoshi; Advisor to the Chief Minister of Nagaland Abu Metha; and Chairman of the Nagaland State Mineral Development Corporation (NSMDC) Atupu Shohe, among others.

Patton further said that the gathering of leaders, artists, and community members at the festival reflects a shared commitment to preserving traditions and passing them on to future generations.

He expressed hope that the Moatsü festival would continue to strengthen the Ao community and inspire people across Nagaland to uphold the values of unity, respect, and collective progress.
