Sikkim Declared Paperless Judiciary; CM Tamang Attends Technology and Judicial Education Conclave

Gangtok, May 1, 2026: Prem Singh Tamang on Friday announced that Sikkim has been declared a paperless judiciary, marking a major step toward building a faster, transparent, and technology-driven justice system in the state.

The announcement came as the Chief Minister attended the Conclave on Technology and Judicial Education held at Chintan Bhawan.

The conclave was attended by several prominent dignitaries including Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Seychelles Rony James Govinden, Hon’ble Judge of the Supreme Court of India and former Chief Justice of the Sikkim High Court Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari, and Hon’ble Judge of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka Mohammad Dhilip Nawaz Abdul Hameed, along with Chief Justices and Judges of High Courts from across India and other distinguished dignitaries.

Welcoming the guests, the Chief Minister said their presence reflects a strong commitment to strengthening the judicial system and brings valuable national and international attention to Sikkim.

He also noted that the occasion is particularly significant as Sikkim is celebrating 50 years of Statehood, a milestone recently marked by the visit of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.

Highlighting the importance of technology in governance, Tamang said initiatives such as e-filing and digital case management will make justice delivery more efficient, accessible, and inclusive.

He expressed confidence that the deliberations at the conclave would contribute to building a modern, technology-driven judiciary for India and across the Commonwealth.
