Pakyong, May 1: The Hon’ble Chief Justice of India Surya Kant arrived in Sikkim on Thursday to participate in the National Conclave on Technical and Judicial Education, scheduled to be held on May 1–2.
The Chief Justice was accompanied by judges of the Supreme Court of India, Chief Justices of several High Courts across the country, and other eminent dignitaries. The delegation also includes representatives from the Commonwealth Legal Education Association, highlighting the conclave’s national and international engagement in strengthening legal and technical education.
On arrival at the Rangpo Tourist Facilitation Centre, the Chief Justice was accorded a ceremonial Guard of Honour by the Sikkim Police.
Justice Surya Kant and the accompanying delegation were received by Justice Meenakshi Madan Rai, along with Registrar General Karma Wangchuk Bhutia, Registrar Jyoti Kharka, Law Secretary Suraj Chettri, Member Secretary of the Sikkim Legal Services Authority Samita Sharma, Senior Superintendent of Police Paru Ruchal, and Additional District Collector Sabindra Rai.
Officials from the High Court of Sikkim, SLSA, and various state departments, including Home and Tourism, were also present to welcome the dignitaries.

Meanwhile, Justice A.H.M. Dilip Nawaz arrived at Bagdogra Airport to attend the conclave. He was received by Liaison Officer-cum-Additional Secretary Anil Kumar Bagdas, Additional Secretary of the Home Department Sharmistha Pradhan, along with officials from the High Court of Sikkim and other departments.
Following his arrival, Justice Nawaz proceeded to Gangtok to take part in the two-day national event aimed at promoting collaboration in judicial and technical education.
The conclave is expected to bring together judicial leaders, legal scholars and policymakers to deliberate on strengthening legal education and fostering innovation in judicial training.
