Assam Police Seize 80,000 Yaba Tablets Worth ₹2.4 Crore in Bongaigaon

Guwahati, May 14, 2026: Assam Police intensified its anti-narcotics crackdown after Bongaigaon Police seized 80,000 Yaba tablets worth an estimated ₹2.4 crore and apprehended one alleged drug peddler in Bongaigaon district.

According to officials, the seizure was made during a special operation carried out at Chalantapara-Khutamari based on precise intelligence inputs. Police intercepted a motorcycle suspected of transporting narcotics smuggled from Meghalaya.

During the operation, officers recovered the large consignment of Yaba tablets, a banned methamphetamine-based drug commonly trafficked across the region. One person was taken into custody in connection with the case.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the vigilance and swift action of the police team, reiterating the State Government’s commitment to dismantling narcotics networks operating across interstate and international borders.

“The relentless crackdown on narcotics continues,” the Chief Minister stated, adding that Assam’s fight against drugs remains “unyielding” in its mission to eliminate every narco-network.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the seized consignment, while efforts are being made to identify other individuals linked to the trafficking network.
