In a statement issued by its media cell, the group claimed that tensions have been rising due to what it described as continued aggression against Nagas, particularly in southern regions. It also alleged that the Government of India was attempting to suppress the Naga political movement, a claim often contested by authorities.
The Eastern Flank stated that a six-member inquiry committee was constituted on March 30 under the directive of the Yaruiwo, following assurances from the group’s internal leadership that those responsible would be penalised. The committee, which included members of the collective leadership, a Kilonser, and a secretary, was tasked with submitting its findings by April 10.
However, the group expressed concern that the report has not yet been made public, calling the delay “highly questionable and suspicious.” It demanded that the findings be released immediately and that accountability be fixed on those allegedly involved.

Referring to the incident on March 28, 2026, at Hongbei village, the Eastern Flank alleged that four of its cadres were killed under the leadership of individuals identified as Lieutenant Starling and 2nd Lieutenant Mathotmi Shimray. It termed the incident “inhumane” and warned of “serious consequences” if justice is not delivered.
The group reiterated that it would continue to seek accountability and ensure that the deaths of its cadres are not forgotten, while calling for transparency in the inquiry process.
