Union MoS for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar Arrives in Aizawl on Two-Day Visit

Aizawl, April 27, 2026: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar arrived in Aizawl on Monday for a two-day official visit to Mizoram. He was received at Lengpui Airport by Dr. Andrew H. Vanlaldika, Additional Secretary of the Home Department, and Protocol Officer C. Lalremruati.

During the visit, the minister had lunch at the 23 Sector Headquarters of Assam Rifles in Khatla before holding a meeting with senior officials of the Mizoram government at the MINECO Conference Hall.

Addressing the officials, Bandi Sanjay Kumar said he had travelled to the state to understand the concerns and developmental needs of Mizoram. He encouraged senior officials to openly share their priorities and challenges related to the state’s development.

The meeting was chaired by acting Chief Secretary R. Zarzosanga. Senior officials from various departments made presentations on Centrally Sponsored Schemes being implemented in the state, outlining their achievements, challenges, and future requirements. The Union minister advised departments to prepare detailed reports and assured that necessary follow-up action would be taken.

Officials from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Assam Rifles also briefed the meeting on border security management along Mizoram’s international borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh. Discussions included issues related to border fencing and development initiatives for border villages under the Vibrant Villages Programme.

Other matters discussed during the meeting included tourism promotion, challenges faced by foreign tourists regarding Restricted Area Permit (RAP) and Protected Area Permit (PAP), and development priorities across various sectors in Mizoram.

Officials also deliberated on long-term planning aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision under the state’s Transformed Mizoram Vision 2047 initiative.

Later in the day, the Union minister visited the Mizoram Police Headquarters at Khatla, where he attended a high tea reception hosted by Mizoram Home Minister K. Sapdanga at GS Arya Mess.

According to the schedule, Bandi Sanjay Kumar will on Tuesday hold a video conference with officials of Siaha district and interact with representatives of local communities and NGOs in the district.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the Government of Mizoram, including the Director General of Police, secretaries of multiple departments, and representatives from security forces and other key agencies.
