Imphal, February 4: Security forces on Tuesday recovered a large cache of arms and explosives from Lambal Awang Leikai under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West district, officials said.
During the operation, security personnel recovered one locally made single-barrel gun, one 9 mm pistol, six pistols with magazines, 64 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, three SLR blank cartridges, one No. 36 HE grenade, one detonator, three tube launching devices, 10 arming rings, an additional magazine, four iron plates, two camouflage helmets, three bulletproof vests and one ammunition container box.

In a separate operation on the same day, security forces intercepted a bus at Tuileluon village under Sangaikot Police Station in Churachandpur district and arrested Thangminlian Zou (30) of Teisaljang village.
From his possession, contraband raw opium weighing approximately 57.7 kilograms and a mobile phone were seized. Following further investigation, security forces arrested Melody Lambu (36), a resident of Pallel Bazaar who is presently staying at T. Khonomphai village in the Koite area of Churachandpur district.
Officials said investigations are underway to ascertain the source of the recovered arms and narcotics and to identify possible links with organised networks.
