Imphal, February 3: Newly elected Leader of the BJP Legislature Party in Manipur, Yumnam Khemchand, on Tuesday expressed gratitude to the Bharatiya Janata Party's central and state leadership for reposing faith in him and entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the party's legislators in the state.

In a statement issued shortly after his election, Khemchand thanked BJP President Nitin Nabin, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and all BJP Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in Manipur for their confidence and support. He described his election as both an honour and a significant responsibility at an important juncture for the state.
"I express my heartfelt gratitude to the party leadership and my fellow legislators for placing their trust in me," Khemchand said, adding that he was humbled by the confidence shown in his leadership.
Accepting his new role, Khemchand pledged to discharge his responsibilities with sincerity, humility, and dedication. He said he would work tirelessly to justify the trust placed in him while remaining committed to the ideals and principles of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The BJP leader also reaffirmed his commitment to contributing towards the vision of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Manipur, emphasising that development should benefit every section of society. He said the state's progress depends on inclusive governance, efficient administration, and sustained efforts to improve the quality of life of its people.
Highlighting the challenges facing Manipur, Khemchand stressed the importance of restoring peace and strengthening social harmony. He said his priority would be to work towards ensuring peace, dignity, and equitable development for all communities living in the state.
He further stated that empathy, compassion, and mutual respect would remain central to his approach to governance. Calling for unity among the people of Manipur, Khemchand said the state's diverse social and cultural fabric should be preserved while promoting dialogue and cooperation among all communities.
"The strength of Manipur lies in its diversity. We must move forward together with understanding, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to peace and development," he said.
Khemchand also assured that he would work in close coordination with the party leadership and government institutions to address the aspirations of the people while ensuring transparent, accountable, and people-centric governance.
His election as the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party comes at a crucial time in Manipur's political landscape, with the state witnessing significant political developments in recent weeks.
