In a press release issued after consultations with stakeholders amid the prevailing political situation in Manipur over the formation of a popular government, ITAC said a major portion of its jurisdiction falls under the 55–Tipaimukh Assembly Constituency, which Sanate represents.

The committee cautioned that any attempt to demean, intimidate, threaten or cause harm to the MLA, or any act of vandalism, destruction, theft or robbery of his movable or immovable properties, would be viewed as a deliberate act of disrespect against the collective will and stand of the tribal populace of Pherzawl and Jiribam districts.

While reiterating its commitment to safeguarding the interests of the Hmar, Kuki and Zomi tribal communities of Manipur, ITAC appealed to all concerned not to allow the current political developments to create division or animosity among tribal groups.

The statement was issued by the Department of Information and Publicity, ITAC, Pherzawl and Jiribam districts, calling for restraint, unity and respect for constitutional processes during the ongoing political uncertainty in the state.
