Okram Ibobi Singh Appointed MPCC President as Congress Reshuffles Manipur Unit

New Delhi/Imphal, February 5: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Wednesday announced a new set of office-bearers for the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), with immediate effect.

According to a press release issued by AICC General Secretary K. C. Venugopal, the Congress President has approved the appointments of the MPCC President, Working Presidents, Treasurer, Leader and Deputy Leader of the Congress Legislature Party, as well as chairpersons of the Election and Campaign Committees.

Senior Congress leader Okram Ibobi Singh has been appointed as the President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. In the Congress Legislature Party, Keisham Meghachandra has been named Leader, while K. Ranjit Singh has been appointed Deputy Leader.

The party also appointed Victor Keishing and Manga Vaiphei as Working Presidents of the MPCC. Md. Fajur Rahim has been named Treasurer.

For organisational and election-related responsibilities, Th. Lokeshwar Singh has been appointed Chairperson of the Campaign Committee, while Moirangthem Okendro will serve as Chairperson of the Election Committee.

In the press release, the Congress party expressed its appreciation for the contributions of the outgoing MPCC leadership and Congress Legislature Party leaders, acknowledging their role in steering the party during a challenging period in Manipur’s political landscape.

The reshuffle is seen as part of the Congress’ efforts to strengthen its organisational structure in Manipur amid ongoing political developments in the state.
