Silchar, February: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, security forces seized narcotics worth ₹14 crore during a joint anti-narcotics operation at Tolengram in Assam’s Cachar district, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Thursday.

According to the Chief Minister, the operation was carried out jointly by Cachar Police and the Assam Rifles. The teams recovered 154 soap cases of heroin and 10,000 YABA tablets, dealing a significant blow to drug peddlers operating in the region.

One person was arrested in connection with the seizure. Praising the forces, Sarma said the operation underscored the state’s firm resolve to dismantle narcotics networks and protect youth from the menace of drugs.
Officials said further investigation is underway to trace the supply chain and identify other individuals involved in the trafficking racket.
