Meghalaya Cabinet Approves 11 Regulations to Streamline Captain Williamson Sangma State University

Shillong, February 5: The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved a comprehensive set of 11 regulations aimed at strengthening academic and administrative functioning at Captain Williamson Sangma State University, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced on Thursday.

Sharing the decision on social media, the Chief Minister said the newly approved regulations are designed to bring greater structure, clarity and efficiency to the university’s operations. The reforms cover key aspects of governance, academics and examinations across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

Among the major provisions is the introduction of a common academic calendar for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The regulations also lay down clear guidelines for postgraduate admissions, fee structures, and course frameworks for master’s degree programmes.

Specific regulations have been approved for master’s programmes in Arts, Science, Commerce, Law, and Library and Information Science, along with detailed norms governing the conduct of examinations across various disciplines.

With the approval of these regulations, the government expects smoother academic planning, uniformity in procedures and improved institutional efficiency at the state university. Officials said the move marks an important step towards strengthening higher education infrastructure and governance in Meghalaya.
