The inauguration programme was also attended by Lalnghinglova Hmar, Minister for Sports & Youth Services. Following the brief ceremony, the Chief Minister held an interaction with ministers and senior NCC officials, including Anurag Vij, Additional Director General, NCC North Eastern Region, and G S Arora, Commander, NCC Group Headquarters, Aizawl.
Addressing the gathering, Lalduhoma said Mizoram had long worked towards establishing a separate NCC Group Headquarters to provide better guidance and opportunities for its youth. He stressed that NCC plays a crucial role in instilling discipline, leadership, and a healthy lifestyle among young people, particularly at a time when substance abuse poses serious challenges.
“Our youth must actively participate in NCC to build character, discipline, and a sense of responsibility. Through NCC, we can protect them from drugs and other social evils while helping them realise their full potential,” the Chief Minister said. He added that the state government remains committed to creating platforms that allow disciplined and capable youth to contribute meaningfully to society.
Speaking on the occasion, ADG Anurag Vij said NCC focuses on shaping youth into disciplined, responsible, and socially committed citizens who serve their families, society, and the nation. He appreciated the Mizoram government’s support and said the region’s youth are known for their sincerity and discipline, though they often lack wider exposure.
He further noted that efforts are being made to provide greater inter-state exposure to NCC cadets, enabling them to interact with peers from other parts of the country. Welcoming the establishment of the NCC Group Headquarters in Mizoram, Vij said it would significantly strengthen NCC activities in the state.

Discussions were also held regarding infrastructure for the new headquarters, with NCC officials stating that if land is provided by the state government, construction of permanent facilities could be taken up, even on a lease basis.
At present, Mizoram has four NCC units with around 8,000 cadets. With the establishment of the Group Headquarters, NCC activities in the state are expected to expand further, offering enhanced training, leadership development, and national integration opportunities for Mizoram’s youth.
