Itanagar, January 29: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Wednesday participated in the inaugural session of the State Level Interaction-cum-Orientation Programme for newly elected Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) representatives, underscoring the critical role of grassroots leadership in the State’s development.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that grassroots representatives carry the real responsibility of delivering government schemes, support, and hope to the last household. He emphasised that informed, committed, and accountable PRI members are essential to ensure that welfare initiatives and development programmes reach people effectively.
“Development truly reaches the ground when grassroots leaders understand policies and work with dedication,” Khandu said, adding that Panchayati Raj representatives serve as the first and most important link between the government and the people.

Highlighting the importance of rural empowerment, the Chief Minister said that strong villages form the foundation of a strong Arunachal Pradesh. He called upon newly elected PRI members to work collectively for inclusive growth, transparency, and people-centric governance.
The orientation programme aims to familiarise PRI representatives with government schemes, administrative procedures, and their roles and responsibilities, enabling them to contribute more effectively to grassroots governance and sustainable development across the State.
