Jiribam, Jan 25: Acting on reliable intelligence, a joint team of Jiribam District Police and central security forces recovered a cache of arms, ammunition, and explosives during a search operation at the foothills of Jairolpokpi village in Jiribam district on Sunday.

The operation was carried out between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm under the leadership of senior police officers, with support from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Assam Rifles, Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB), and other security units.
During the search, security personnel recovered one Self-Loading Rifle (SLR), several locally made firearms, Pompi, improvised explosive devices (IEDs), live ammunition of various calibres, and two walkie-talkie sets.

Police said the recovery has been formally recorded under GD No. 21/JBM-PS/2026 dated January 25, 2026. Further investigation is underway to trace the source of the recovered items and identify those involved.
Security forces have reiterated that such coordinated operations will continue to ensure peace and stability in the district.
