Nagaland’s Trance Effect Creates History with Debut at Lollapalooza India

Mumbai, January 25: Indie rock band Trance Effect from Nagaland created history by performing at Lollapalooza, one of the world’s largest and most influential music festivals, during its fourth India edition held at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, Mumbai, on January 24–25, 2026.

The two-day festival brought together a diverse musical spectrum, ranging from EDM, hip-hop, nu metal, indie and rock, drawing massive crowds from across the country and abroad. Trance Effect’s presence at the iconic global platform marked a major milestone not only for the band but also for Nagaland and Northeast India’s growing footprint on the international music map.

Comprising Iuli Yeptho, Takotemjen Chang, Temsujungba Jamir, and Sosang Longkumer, the band shared the stage with renowned international and national artists including Linkin Park, Playboi Carti, Fujii Kaze, Nucleya, Calum Scott, and Kehlani, placing music from Northeast India alongside some of the biggest names in the global music scene.

Trance Effect concluded their set with a stirring rendition of their fan-favourite track “More Love,” which resonated deeply with the audience. Even after the band left the stage, fans continued singing along to the chorus, underscoring the emotional connection forged through their performance.

Formed in 2017, Trance Effect has steadily carved a niche in India’s indie music landscape with tracks such as Clowns, Took Me A While, Blue Sweatshirt, and Favourite Mistake. Their Lollapalooza appearance is being widely hailed as a landmark moment for independent music from the Northeast, spotlighting the region’s rich creative talent on a truly global stage.
