Aizawl, Aug 6, 2025: The biometric enrollment of migrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh in Mizoram has registered 887 individuals since the exercise began on July 28. The initiative, being carried out in all 11 districts of the state, is in line with directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs to identify and document migrants.
According to the Home Department, the process involves recording biometric details along with information on the migrants’ places of residence and employment. Initially focused on Myanmar nationals, the enrollment will soon extend to migrants from Bangladesh.

District-wise figures show Aizawl with 74 registrations, Lunglei with 103, Siaha with 106, Champhai with 7, Kolasib with 15, Serchhip with 67, Mamit with 33, Lawngtlai with 261, Hnahthial with 53, Khawzawl with 80, and Saitual with 88.
Authorities have confirmed that the process will continue in phases to ensure complete coverage, with the aim of strengthening migrant data records and enhancing administrative oversight.
