Mizoram University Celebrates NAAC A+ Grade, Launches e-Office Portal

Aizawl, Aug 5, 2025:  Mizoram University (MZU) celebrated a significant milestone with a grand function held at the university auditorium to mark its achievement of securing an A+ Grade accreditation from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a CGPA of 3.30. 

The occasion also witnessed the official launch of the university’s e-Office Portal, a major initiative aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency through digital transformation.

The event was graced by Mizoram Governor and Chief Rector of Mizoram University, General (Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), who congratulated the university community on the prestigious recognition. Addressing the gathering, the Governor praised the institution’s remarkable growth since its establishment in 2000 and highlighted its emergence as one of the leading centres of higher education in Northeast India.

He noted that MZU has consistently maintained its position among the top 100 universities in the country under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and has secured the 15th position among Central Universities in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF).

The Governor also commended the university’s achievements in academics, research, and innovation. He highlighted the successful implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, adoption of the Academic Bank of Credits, an impressive h-index of 98, and the filing of 46 patents. He further praised MZU for pioneering online learning through MOOCs and SWAYAM platforms and for establishing a unique DRDO Industry-Academia Centre of Excellence.

Emphasising the university’s inclusive and global outlook, he noted that the campus hosts students from diverse backgrounds, including 43 international students representing 15 countries.

MZU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dibakar Chandra Deka expressed pride in the achievement, stating that only a handful of Central Universities have attained an A+ Grade from NAAC. He encouraged faculty, staff, and students to continue striving for excellence and work collectively towards achieving an A++ Grade in future assessments.

The programme also featured speeches by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pravakar Rath and IQAC Director Prof. Diwakar Tiwari, while Registrar Prof. Lalnundanga delivered the vote of thanks. The celebration concluded with renewed commitment towards academic excellence, innovation, and institutional development.
