Norbu Bhutia, Pushkar Gurung and Arpana Gurung Emerge Champions at Mr. Sukhim 2026

Majhitar, June 7: The 8th edition of the Mr. Sukhim Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique and Women’s Physique Championship 2026 was held with great enthusiasm at Marena Hall, SMIT, Majhitar, bringing together some of the finest bodybuilding and physique athletes from across Sikkim and neighboring regions.

Organized by the Bodybuilders Association of Sikkim, the championship highlighted the growing popularity of fitness and bodybuilding in the state while providing a platform for athletes to showcase their dedication, discipline, and competitive spirit.

The event was graced by MLA Sanjeet Kharel as the Chief Guest. Kala Rai, MLA and President of the Bodybuilders Association of Sikkim, and SIMFED Chairman Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia attended as Guests of Honour. The dignitaries praised the participants for their commitment to fitness and commended the organizers for promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among the youth.

The highlight of the championship was the crowning of Norbu Bhutia of Gangtok as Mr. Sukhim 2026, securing the prestigious Champion of Champions title in the Senior Bodybuilding category. Bhutia’s impressive physique, conditioning, and stage presentation helped him emerge as the overall winner in one of the state's most respected bodybuilding competitions.

In the Men’s Physique category, Pushkar Gurung of Darjeeling claimed the championship title after outperforming a strong field of contestants. Judges were impressed by his physique, symmetry, conditioning, and confidence on stage, earning him top honours in the highly competitive division.

The Women’s Model Physique Championship title went to Arpana Gurung of Extreme Gym, Pakyong, who delivered an outstanding performance marked by excellent physique, poise, and stage presence. Arpana, who is also posted at the District Information Centre in Pakyong, was widely praised for her achievement and was congratulated by officials and supporters alike.

Another major winner of the event was Sawang Hang of Rumtek, who captured the Junior Mr. Sukhim 2026 title. His victory was celebrated as a testament to his dedication, discipline, and relentless hard work, making both Rumtek and the Sikkim bodybuilding fraternity proud.

Addressing the gathering, SIMFED Chairman Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia emphasized the importance of fitness and sports in shaping a healthier society. He noted that bodybuilding requires not only physical strength but also perseverance, discipline, and mental determination. He encouraged young people to actively participate in sports and physical activities, stating that such pursuits contribute to personal development and overall well-being.

The championship attracted athletes from various parts of Sikkim and neighboring regions, reflecting the increasing popularity of bodybuilding and physique sports in the Northeast. Contestants competed across multiple categories, displaying months and even years of rigorous training and preparation.

The atmosphere at the venue was electric as spectators cheered on the participants throughout the competition. Athletes showcased their physiques before judges and audiences, demonstrating the results of countless hours spent in gyms and training facilities.
