Organized under the theme “Peace Pays,” the match brought together football fans, players, and community members from across the Northeast for an evening that celebrated not only sporting excellence but also the values of friendship, solidarity, and regional harmony.
The contest featured players from Aizawl FC, one of the Northeast’s most prominent football clubs, alongside top football talents from Nagaland representing Nagaland United Sports Club. Both teams displayed attacking football throughout the match, entertaining a sizeable crowd at the stadium.
Aizawl FC took the lead in the first half when Zomuana found the back of the net, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage heading into the break. Despite determined efforts from NUSC to equalize, Aizawl FC maintained control of the game. In the second half, Fela doubled the lead with a well-taken goal, ensuring a comfortable 2-0 victory for the Mizoram-based side.
However, the significance of the event extended far beyond the final scoreline. The Peace Pays initiative seeks to harness the popularity of football to encourage compassion, unity, and cooperation among communities across the Northeast. Organizers said proceeds from the exhibition match will be used to support underprivileged children, adding a charitable dimension to the sporting occasion.
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, who attended the event, praised the initiative and highlighted the broader impact of sports in society. In a post on social media, Rio described the match as a celebration of shared values such as peace, solidarity, and friendship.
