Security Forces Arrest ZLF ‘Commander-in-Chief’, Four RPF/PLA Cadres and KC

Imphal, May 11: Security forces in Manipur have arrested a self-styled Zogam Liberation Front (ZLF) “Commander-in-Chief,” four active cadres of the proscribed RPF/PLA outfit, and an active member of KCP (Apunba) in separate operations conducted across Churachandpur and Imphal East districts, police said on Monday.

According to Manipur Police, security forces on May 9 arrested Vincent Pumjamang Taithul (40), identified as the self-styled Commander-in-Chief of the non-SoO group ZLF, India Region, from Zoumun IDP settlement near Geljang village under Churachandpur Police Station.

Police alleged that the accused was involved in extortion activities. During the operation, security personnel seized 10 letterheads of the outfit along with three mobile phones from his possession.

In another operation conducted on May 11, security forces arrested four active cadres of the proscribed RPF/PLA from the Nongada–Chana area under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district.

The arrested individuals were identified as Moirangthem Sanathoi Meitei (19), Kshetrimayum Chaoba Meitei (24), Malemnganba Moirangthem (23), and Nepram Tolenkhomba Meitei alias Ibungo (18).

Two mobile phones were recovered from their possession, police said.

Authorities further stated that three youths who had allegedly been coerced and detained by the arrested cadres for recruitment into the proscribed outfit were rescued during the operation.

Meanwhile, security forces also arrested Khumbongmayum Ananda Meitei alias Lamphel alias Ibomcha (53), identified as a self-styled Advisor and active cadre of KCP (Apunba), from Tarung Grace Colony in Imphal West district.

Police said the accused is originally from Nongada Awang Leikai in Imphal East district. Two mobile phones and an Aadhaar card were seized from his possession.

The arrests were part of ongoing security operations aimed at curbing militant activities, extortion and illegal recruitment in the state.
