Shillong, May 2: The closing ceremony of Season 4 of the Annual Women on Wheels (WOW) Car Drive and Northeast on Wheels (NEW) Bike Expedition was held at Lok Bhavan in Shillong, celebrating the successful completion of the cross-regional expedition promoting tourism, road safety and sustainable travel.
The expedition highlighted the spirit of the “Dekho Apna Desh” initiative, encouraging people to explore India’s diverse landscapes while promoting responsible travel, clean energy awareness and safe driving practices. Participants travelled across several states in the Northeast, showcasing the cultural vibrancy and natural beauty of the region.

Season 4 of the expedition, which ran from April 24 to May 3, 2026, brought together participants from across the country who journeyed through states such as Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, strengthening bonds between communities and promoting regional tourism. (Instagram)
Organisers said the initiative aims to inspire more women and youth to take part in adventure tourism while highlighting the Northeast as a destination rich in culture, heritage and scenic landscapes.
The event concluded with participants sharing their experiences from the journey, emphasizing the message of unity, road safety, environmental responsibility and the celebration of India’s diverse cultural heritage.
