CM Conrad Sangma Inaugurates ₹3.5 Crore Indoor Sports Hall in Upper Shillong

Shillong, May 2, 2026: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inaugurated the Improved Playground and Indoor Sports Hall at Umlyngka, Lai Mer in Upper Shillong, providing a modern sports facility for local residents and youth.

Built at a cost of ₹3.5 crore, the project includes a fully equipped indoor sports hall with a badminton court, an upgraded football ground, and other essential amenities designed to support sports and recreational activities in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said the new facility will benefit residents, youth, and local schools, creating opportunities for sports, fitness, and community development programmes.

Sangma noted that such infrastructure is important for encouraging young people to engage in sports and healthy activities while also serving as a venue for community events.
