NIA Chief Rakesh Aggarwal Meets Manipur Governor at Lok Bhavan

Imphal, May 6, 2026: Rakesh Aggarwal, Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), called on Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Lok Bhavan in Imphal on Wednesday during his official visit to the state, underscoring the continued coordination between central investigative agencies and the state administration on matters relating to security and law enforcement.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the National Investigation Agency who accompanied the Director General during the visit. While the Raj Bhavan did not disclose the details of the discussions, the interaction is understood to have focused on issues concerning internal security, inter-agency coordination, and strengthening institutional cooperation in addressing security-related challenges in Manipur.

The visit comes at a time when Manipur continues to remain under heightened security vigilance following the prolonged ethnic unrest that has affected the state since 2023. Central and state agencies have been working closely to maintain law and order, investigate incidents of violence, and ensure that cases with national security implications are handled effectively.

Officials noted that meetings between the Governor and senior officers of central agencies play an important role in facilitating coordination, reviewing the overall security environment, and ensuring timely exchange of information among various stakeholders. Such engagements also help strengthen cooperation in the investigation of sensitive cases entrusted to the National Investigation Agency.

During the interaction, Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla is understood to have appreciated the role played by the NIA and other central agencies in supporting the state's efforts to maintain peace, uphold the rule of law, and reinforce public confidence in the justice system. He also acknowledged the importance of close coordination between the state administration and central investigative agencies in addressing complex security challenges.

Senior NIA officials accompanying the Director General also held discussions with state authorities as part of the visit, further reinforcing operational coordination at multiple levels. The visit reflects the Centre's continued engagement with Manipur and its commitment to strengthening institutional mechanisms for effective investigation, intelligence sharing, and law enforcement.

The meeting at Lok Bhavan is viewed as part of ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration between the National Investigation Agency and the Government of Manipur in ensuring security, stability, and the effective handling of cases that have broader national implications.
