Speaking at the inauguration programme, the Minister welcomed the establishment of the Skill Lab in collaboration with Bharat Forge under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative and expressed hope that students would make full use of the facility.
Dr. Vanlalthlana said the lab would transform the way students learn by moving beyond the traditional focus on reading, writing, and memorisation. He noted that education today must focus on innovation, creativity, and problem-solving in a rapidly changing world.
Highlighting the facilities available at the centre, he said students would gain hands-on exposure to advanced technologies such as robotics, drone technology, 3D printing, and other modern engineering tools provided through technical partner SimuSoft Technologies. He added that the initiative would help students translate their knowledge and skills into practical applications.
The Minister also appreciated Bharat Forge for providing teacher training and educational materials to support the programme. He said the Skill Lab would benefit not only students in Aizawl but learners across Mizoram, adding that the teachers managing the facility would play a crucial role in guiding future innovators.
According to Dr. Vanlalthlana, students from Classes VII to IX will be able to design and develop robotic systems, an initiative expected to significantly enhance experiential learning. He further announced that two more such laboratories would be established in the state through CSR partnerships.
During the programme, the Minister also launched a textbook titled "Comprehensive AI Education Programme for School", aimed at introducing students to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Leena Deshpande, Vice President and Head of CSR at Bharat Forge, outlined the company's efforts in skill development and rural advancement across the country. She said the company had selected several locations for development initiatives, including one in Mizoram, where projects such as rainwater harvesting and technology-driven education would be supported. She also announced plans to install a solar inverter at the Skill Lab to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
