Sikkim CM Attends First Foundation Day of CM’s Model School, Calls for World-Class Education by 2047

Gangtok, May 30, 2026: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) attended the first Foundation Day celebration of the Chief Minister’s Model School at Assam Lingzey on Saturday, where he reiterated the state's commitment to building a world-class education system by 2047.

Addressing students, teachers, parents, and school staff, the Chief Minister congratulated the institution on completing its first year and extended his best wishes to Director Col. Ujjwal Khatiwada and the entire school community.

Describing the Chief Minister’s Model School as a centre of academic excellence, innovation, character development, and holistic learning, Tamang said the institution was established with the vision of providing quality education and equal opportunities to every child, particularly those from humble backgrounds.

The Chief Minister stressed that Sikkim's goal is to transform its education system into a world-class model by 2047, in line with the aspirations of a developed India and the dreams of the younger generation.

He noted that the vision extends beyond academic performance and examination success, emphasizing the need to ensure that every student receives the support, guidance, and opportunities necessary for both educational achievement and personal growth.

"No child should be left behind in the pursuit of excellence," he said, calling for collective efforts from students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the wider community to achieve the state's educational goals.

Tamang further stated that schools must become models of quality education by promoting modern teaching methods, digital learning, scientific temperament, environmental awareness, and strong moral values.

The event marked the first Foundation Day of the institution, which was established to provide high-quality education and nurture future leaders for the state.
