Mukesh Singh Arrives in Imphal, Set to Take Charge as Manipur DGP

Imphal, May 30, 2026: Senior IPS officer Mukesh Singh arrived in Imphal on Saturday to take charge as the new Director General of Police (DGP), Manipur, following his appointment by the state government.

According to officials, the 1996-batch IPS officer of the AGMUT cadre reached Imphal on Saturday afternoon ahead of formally assuming office as the state's top police officer on June 1, 2026.

In an official statement, the government welcomed Mukesh Singh and expressed confidence that his extensive experience and leadership would further strengthen policing, security, and law and order in the state. Authorities also wished him a successful tenure in Manipur.

The Government of Manipur recently appointed Mukesh Singh as the DGP and Head of the Police Force following his inter-cadre deputation from the AGMUT cadre to the Manipur cadre.

The appointment comes as part of a wider administrative reshuffle involving several senior IPS officers aimed at strengthening governance, policing, and administrative efficiency in the state.

As part of the reshuffle, Ashutosh Kumar Sinha has been posted as Chairman and Managing Director of MANIDCO and will also hold the additional charge of Director of Inquiry, Manipur Lokayukta.

Meanwhile, Lupheng Kailun has been appointed as the Managing Director of MPHC Ltd., while Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo has been posted as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) in charge of Armed Police, Modernization, Intelligence, and Law & Order.

Officials said the transfers and postings take immediate effect and form part of the government's efforts to strengthen the state's administrative and security framework.

Mukesh Singh takes charge at a critical juncture as Manipur continues to face significant security and law-and-order challenges. As DGP, he will be responsible for overseeing the state's police force, coordinating security operations, and maintaining public order.

The latest appointments are expected to play a key role in enhancing governance, policing, and the overall effectiveness of public institutions across Manipur.
