Mnaipur CM Khemchand Inaugurates Manipur Police Museum, Reviews New Police Headquarters

Imphal, May 29, 2026: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on Friday inaugurated the Manipur Police Museum at the 1st Manipur Rifles Battalion Complex, describing it as a significant milestone in the history of the state's police force.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Singh and other senior police officials.

According to the Chief Minister, the museum preserves the rich legacy, evolution, and service of the Manipur Police through an extensive collection of antique firearms, historical uniforms, rare photographs, and archival records. He said the institution serves as a tribute to the dedication, courage, and sacrifices made by generations of police personnel.

Khemchand reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting and promoting the museum as an important repository of Manipur's policing heritage and a source of inspiration for future generations.

Later in the day, the Chief Minister visited the newly established Manipur Police Headquarters at Mantripukhri in the presence of DGP Rajiv Singh and senior officers. During the visit, he reviewed the facilities and held discussions with senior police officials.

Expressing satisfaction with the state-of-the-art complex, Khemchand said the fully operational headquarters reflects the government's continued efforts to modernize policing infrastructure in the state.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated a new Crèche Room at the headquarters to support the welfare of police personnel and their families.

He stated that the modern headquarters is expected to significantly improve administrative efficiency, security coordination, and policing operations across Manipur. Reiterating the government's commitment to strengthening the police force, Khemchand said efforts would continue to equip the department with the infrastructure and resources necessary to effectively serve and protect the people.

The inauguration of the police museum and the operationalization of the new headquarters mark important steps in preserving the force's heritage while enhancing its capabilities through modern infrastructure.
