Aizawl, May 23, 2026: The Department of Education, Mizoram University, successfully organised its Annual Sports Meet 2026 from May 19 to 21, bringing together students and faculty members in a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, teamwork, and holistic development.

The three-day event commenced with an inaugural function held at the Bethesda Futsal Ground. The programme was graced by Prof. Lokanath Mishra, Head of Department (in-charge) and Dean of the School of Education, Mizoram University, who attended as the Chief Guest and formally declared the Annual Sports Meet open.
The annual event was organised with the objective of promoting discipline, cooperation, leadership, and healthy competition among students while encouraging balanced growth beyond academic learning.
Throughout the programme, participants enthusiastically took part in a wide range of co-curricular activities, including indoor and outdoor sports competitions, traditional games, cultural events, and literary activities. Students representing the department’s four houses actively competed in various events, contributing to an energetic and engaging atmosphere during the meet.
Faculty members, organising committee members, judges, volunteers, and students worked collectively to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the programme. Their coordinated efforts helped create an environment that encouraged participation, unity, and mutual respect among all involved.
Speaking during the programme, organisers highlighted that education extends beyond classroom teaching and examinations, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of learners through extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
