Imphal, May 10: The All Manipur Christian Organization (AMCO) has expressed deep concern over the recent violence and firing incidents involving Kukis and Nagas in Manipur’s Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, while alleging partiality by certain Central security forces, particularly the Assam Rifles.

In a press statement issued on May 9, AMCO said the ongoing unrest in the strife-hit state has intensified fear, mistrust and suffering among communities already affected by years of conflict.
The organisation strongly condemned the violence and accused the Assam Rifles of displaying “biased attitudes and partiality” during the present crisis. AMCO alleged that instead of acting as neutral peacekeepers, certain security personnel appeared to be siding with one particular group, which, it claimed, was further aggravating tensions in the region.
“The primary responsibility of the central forces is to act impartially, uphold the Constitution, protect innocent civilians, and maintain law and order without bias and discrimination,” the statement said.
AMCO stated that repeated allegations and growing public perceptions of selective action and unequal responses during the conflict have raised serious concerns among affected communities.
The Christian body said any form of bias or unequal treatment by security agencies weakens public trust and undermines efforts toward reconciliation and lasting peace in Manipur.
The organisation also highlighted the humanitarian impact of the prolonged violence, stating that the conflict over the last three years has resulted in loss of lives, destruction of homes and properties, displacement of thousands and deep emotional trauma among civilians.
Calling for restraint and reconciliation, AMCO appealed to all warring groups and stakeholders to immediately cease hostilities and work towards peace and justice.
“This is the time for truth, justice, compassion, and responsible action from all stakeholders,” the statement said.
The organisation further urged communities in Manipur to reject division and violence, stating that all communities are neighbours and must work together for peace and coexistence. The statement was issued by AMCO president Rev. L. Simon Raomai.
