In a press statement issued on May 6, the organisation alleged that incidents such as the burning of Lanchah Kuki Village in Kamjong district marked a serious escalation of violence, calling for immediate accountability and decisive intervention by authorities. It also cited earlier incidents, including the burning of villages like Gampal and Haijang, armed attacks on Kuki settlements, and the killing of civilians.

The organisation stated that despite repeated provocations, the Kuki community has exercised restraint in the interest of maintaining peace and inter-community coexistence. However, it warned that continued targeting of civilians and destruction of homes could further destabilise relations between communities.

Kuki Inpi Manipur also expressed concern over reported denial of essential supplies to Kuki residents in Chassad and nearby areas, describing it as a serious humanitarian issue. It urged authorities and civil society groups to ensure that basic necessities reach affected populations without obstruction.

Referring to recent appeals for peace, the organisation noted that such incidents undermine ongoing efforts towards reconciliation and stability in the region. It stressed that actions that escalate tensions run counter to calls for cessation of hostilities.

Reaffirming its commitment to peaceful coexistence, Kuki Inpi Manipur stated that restraint should not be mistaken for weakness and asserted that the community remains prepared to safeguard its rights and people if necessary.

The organisation called on the government and relevant authorities to take immediate and effective steps to halt violence, restore normalcy, and ensure accountability to prevent further escalation of the situation.
