Mizoram Govt Honours Top Digital Performers at Government Online Excellence Awards 2025

Aizawl, May 6, 2026: The Government of Mizoram on Wednesday conferred the “Government Online Excellence Awards 2025” at the Taxation Auditorium, MINECO, recognising outstanding digital performance by government departments and educational institutions.

The awards ceremony, organised by the Information, Communication & Technology (ICT) Department, was graced by ICT Minister Dr. Vanlalthlana as chief guest.

In his address, Dr. Vanlalthlana described the event as a significant recognition of innovation and public service delivered through digital platforms. He highlighted how advancements in information technology have made it easier for citizens to access services such as payment of electricity, water, and phone bills online. He urged departments to further expand digital services to improve public convenience.

The Minister also spoke about key initiatives, including the proposal to establish an Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence (AI-CoE) in Mizoram and the ongoing rollout of the Mizoram Fibre Grid Network to ensure better internet connectivity across all districts.

ICT Secretary Dr. YLN Reddy, IAS, noted that Mizoram is steadily progressing towards becoming a “digitally empowered” state, with increasing adoption of IT tools across government departments.

Chief Informatics Officer James Lalnunmawia presented a technical report, stating that the awards were evaluated using the Gartner Maturity Model and a government-developed web monitoring system. A total of 160 official departmental websites and 50 educational institution websites were assessed by expert committees comprising professionals from MZU, NIC, and NIELIT.

In the Official Department category, the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms secured the top rank, followed by Land Revenue & Settlement and the Mizoram Information Commission. Other top performers included the Forensic Science Laboratory, SCERT, and Transport Department.

In the Educational Institution category, Govt. Hrangbana College secured first place, followed by Govt. J. Buana College, Lunglei, and Govt. Aizawl College. Several other institutions, including RIPANS and Pachhunga University College, also featured among the top ten.

The top three winners in each category received citations and mementos, while ranks four to ten were awarded citations.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Joint Secretary Pi Pinky Zosangpuii, marking the successful celebration of digital excellence in Mizoram’s governance and education sectors.
