Addressing the gathering, Sapdanga said discipline is fundamental to the effectiveness and credibility of the police force. He stressed that maintaining peace and stability in Mizoram requires consistent dedication, professionalism, and responsible conduct. He urged police personnel to uphold high standards in their behaviour, communication, and overall conduct, noting that public trust in the police would encourage greater adherence to law and order among citizens.

During the event, the Home Minister also released a key document titled “Mizoram Police Model Guidelines for Year of Discipline 2026–2027 (Core Principles and Specific Areas of Focus)”, outlining the framework for the initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Director General of Police Sharad Agarwal highlighted that discipline forms the backbone of police service. He called on personnel to carry out their duties with integrity, commitment, and professionalism.

The guidelines set out several core focus areas, including punctuality, accountability, and efficient discharge of duties. Emphasis has also been placed on adherence to standard operating procedures, proper documentation, timely investigation of cases, and maintaining ethical conduct in public interactions, especially with vulnerable sections of society.
