The event marked 25 years of dedicated service by the Samaritan Association for the Blind in providing education to visually impaired children in the state. Vanlalhlana, PWD Minister and local MLA, attended as Guest of Honour.
Addressing the gathering, Lalduhoma praised the determination of visually impaired students, noting that despite physical challenges, they continue to pursue education with resilience. Emphasising mental well-being, he said a healthy mindset can transform difficulties into opportunities.
The Chief Minister highlighted the critical role played by the institution, stating that prior to its establishment, Mizoram lacked dedicated educational facilities for visually impaired children. He commended the association for its persistent efforts in setting up the school, which has since become a beacon of hope for many.
Providing an update on government support, Lalduhoma said the school has been granted Adhoc status and teachers have been attached to strengthen academic delivery. He added that the government is considering provincialising the middle section and exploring a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model to further enhance its functioning.
The Chief Minister also underscored the need for improved infrastructure, particularly a separate hostel for girls, as boys and girls currently share the same facility. He announced that ₹50 lakh has already been earmarked under a handholding initiative for hostel construction.

During the programme, Executive Secretary R.K. Vanlalringa presented a report highlighting the school’s achievements. Established in 2001, the school currently has 35 students from Mizoram and neighbouring states and has maintained a 100 per cent pass rate in HSLC examinations for 17 consecutive years.
